About Me
What’s my story?
I was 18 and in my final year of high school, when I started buying my school’s old computers, doing them up and selling them at local swap-meets. This quickly turned into a lucrative weekend side hustle.
I started at Monash Uni in 2008, but my heart wasn’t in it. My little side hustle was turning into a real business and my studies were being neglected. (I was also getting hints that my business had outgrown my parent’s garage.) I decided to lease a warehouse, drop out of uni and focus my attention on growing my business, which I had decided to call Cash for Computers. It fast became a hectic year.
A year into business, customers were asking me if they could lease a computer on a payment plan. I decided to change tact and see where it took me. I put up a crappy website, ran some Google ads and quickly got my first few customers. Computers for All was born.
The first 12 months were hectic. We did $1m in leases in the first year and grew very quickly. I sold off the Cash for Computers business and focused all my attention on Computers for All.
The growth didn’t slow down. Computers for All hit $4m of sales in its 3rd year, with 100% growth again the year after. We decided it was time to rebrand so that we could focus on offering a wider range of products to our customers. Make It Mine would offer more than just computers, giving us the opportunity to expand into TVs, phones and whitegoods.
After 6 years of operation, we hit $60m in annual sales and had a team of over 60 staff.
I sold Make it Mine in 2017 and am now focusing on being a full-time dad and helping other start-ups achieve their growth goals.
